Eagles just aren't that good right now. Incapable of playing a full game. Injuries. Offense is a mess. Too reliant on defense to hold scores down. They weren't winning in sustainable ways.

Trump has emboldened those negatively-charged parts that have already existed, I think.

He certainly brings out the worst in everyone, but he is more a reflection of how perverse and corrupted American "values" have become rather than the actual cause of said corruption.

Spend your entire "career" pissing people off and creating enemies, don't act surprised when they get pissed off. Reap what you sow.

Maybe conservatives need to try a positive approach and uplift people instead of stomping on them.

The problem is attempting to rationalize with people who are irrational.

MAGA isn't interested in what is factually correct. They are only interested in what is part-and-parcel of their fabricated cult identity, and you can't reason with that sort of fully entrenched mindset.

Heritage Foundation and the tech-adjacent billionaires. They are happy to accelerate an American collapse because they think it will consolidate wealth and ownership even further. The only curious aspect is how there's no real religious intersection between the groups.

Americans are miserable, and misery loves company. It speaks to the country's failure at providing a high level of "quality of life" features to many, so they resort to accepting fascism because any bit of power fills the empty void of their lives.
August 12, 2025 at 2:08 AM
They don't have a problem with fascism. How much does FNC rail against "socialism" yet doesn't say a peep about fascism?

They tell on themselves, but fascism is a natural extension of conservatism (the need to maintain hierarchies, through oppression if necessary).

You asked why the rule was removed, and I was merely responding to that. Those were words from former refs - the rule was removed because they couldn't enforce it, usually because they didn't know who was pushing.

For the rest, I don't have an answer. You'd have to talk to the refs themselves.
May 20, 2025 at 2:04 AM
Not quite what I said. I said adding more discretionary rules won't help the quality of the refereeing.

The whole point was the penalty was difficult to enforce for refs so they never called the penalty. Unless they have more insights about how to referee this rule now, it makes no sense.
May 20, 2025 at 1:50 AM
They changed the rule because the refs couldn't enforce it consistently (difficult to deem who was pushing, so they didn't call it).

That only makes me wonder what has changed, because the refereeing has gotten worse, and more discretionary rules won't help.

That booger sugar was probably cheaper than a beer. Assuming he brought it from home, of course.

Probably a bad decision by the NFL, because Tronald is going to make the draft all about him when the time comes.
May 5, 2025 at 8:12 PM
I have yet to hear a viable argument for banning it. Pushing was illegal once before, but the league changed it because referees, in the moment, couldn't judge who was being pushed.

People only want it gone now because of subjective reasons; the Eagles are having too much success, apparently.

Does PA have recall voting? Unfortunately, you'd have to go back to the primary because his opponent in the election was notable grifter Dr. Oz.

I do think the stroke has played a role in his ... issues.

I really hope there's some missing context here.

A transition period from above-average to terrible? Ah yes, that's the economic recalibration we were all hoping for this year.

<sarcasm> Good thing it definitely won't get worse. </sarcasm>

I think when it became political. Education became political. Medicine became political. Disease became political.

All because some people want to exploit the ignorance of others in order to facilitate their powermongering.
