From long-time Iowa political reporter Laura Belin:

"[L]eaders of Iowa Public Radio...expect to lose about $1 million, ... roughly 10 percent of their budget, and Iowa PBS will lose about $3.5 million in Corporation for Public Broadcasting grants, ... about 18 percent of its annual budget."

As someone who has bought Gaffer tape for work, it’s great. But should I read this article to find out that it costs 10x more than duck tape. But no, that wouldn’t be very elitist of the Times to note that!

It's a good soundbite, but not accurate. According to the St. Louis Fed, we ran a trade surplus from roughly 1870-1970. Then we've had deficits since.

No shit. Still rocking the iPhone 13. Just finished paying off monthly plan. No desire to add $70+ back onto monthly bill just to get AI Siri that doesn’t work.

Trying to figure out why WaPo is running a UK headline when we're experiencing a coup in the US?

Adding some positivity to the timeline, one of my favorite authors @lyz.bsky.social visited my old stomping grounds of University of Northern Iowa to meet with Honors Students! (Screenshot from latest UNI Honors newsletter.)

A little timeline cleanse from when I left work tonight!

Was going to share this because I loved the headline. Pasted in, noticed headline was different! I know outlets change/update headlines, but I'm curious on this one? "Heel turn" connects the MAGA efforts to fascism. "trading transphobia for trade war" is boring? @theverge.com @reckless.bsky.social

Inspired by @lyz.bsky.social, I’m going to start reading at least one classic literary work each year. Starting at the top of Penguin’s list with “Pride and Prejudice”

“If you really think this man is up to no good,” Grace said, “you need more than this before we go to Ed. We don’t want to go off half-cocked.” “Don’t worry, Grace,” Patricia said. “When we go off, we’ll be fully cocked.” — The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires: A Novel by Grady Hendrix

I believe Marketing requires Truth.

I believe Marketing requires Resonance.

If you have one, but not the other, your Marketing either doesn’t work (Ineffective) or can hurt consumers (Dangerous).

If you have neither, your Marketing is doing nothing for anyone, you or the consumer (Worthless).
