Curious old journalist. Resident of Sask. Likes to talk about asbestos in water.
I was frankly surprised WC ran it. How about Watershed Sentinel?

Italy is has a great
Deal of old asbestos cement water pipes. Earthquakes in recent decades have wreaked havoc on underground infrastructure. Italy is
leading the research in this area.

I am aware of asphalt.
There is a great vid on YouTube.
All I am saying about swallowing asbestos is that there is a growing body of evidence 🇨🇦&🇺🇸 that drinking the fibres is a very foolish proposition.
October 4, 2025 at 4:36 PM
As for low fibre counts, tell that to residents of Brockway, PA. The water report below says 1.3 Billion fibres per litre.

I think 🇨🇦 might want to chat with some of these Kenyan scientists, cuz that jurisdiction is prioritizing asbestos cement water pipe replacement.

145 asbestos cement water pipe breaks in Regina this year. Was the water tested for asbestos at each break? Were residents notified? Sadly, the answer to both is no. BTW, we still have three months to go.

Actually a large part of the water distribution system is made up of ASBESTOS cement (AC) pipes. They are highlighted in GREEN in the picture ⬇️ Funny how we keep dropping a word…

The 2024 study below also gives us a sense of a lifecycle for asbestos cement water pipes. The blue spike is a first break for asbestos cement pipes. Early Regina asbestos cement pipes date back to 1945.

That is a lot of small diameter asbestos cement water pipe. Almost 50%. The report is City of Regina. 2021.

50-60 yrs to replace the (at least) 500 km of old asbestos cement water pipe in Regina. How come it is a priority, and causes cancer in Kenya, and not in Regina?

It’s 13.7-thousand km.
What it tells you, if you read the info provided, is where the pipes are. The next step would be to get in touch with your respective municipality to see what is being done about it. Kenya is on it.
October 3, 2025 at 11:49 PM
According to the City of Regina it will take a half century to replace the “majority” of old asbestos cement water pipes. It’s been having trouble replacing 10 per year. #health

Let’s break down the Regina numbers. 531 km in 2005. Exact same amount in 2021. Suddenly down to 500 km in Dec.,
2022. That’s remarkable, if true. Especially since the city has acknowledged it is having difficulty meeting its target of replacing 10 km per year.

The story👇🏼 from one week ago says Kenya is replacing old asbestos cement water pipes because they may cause cancer. We have at least 13.7-thousand km of old asbestos cement water pipes in 🇨🇦

Before you panic, pls contact the American Cancer Society and ask why it highlights asbestos cement water pipes on the asbestos and cancer risk page of its website? We have been aware of this for decades. Yes, let’s replace the pipes. Thank you. Don’t mind repeating myself.

Pls explain why the EPA said drinking asbestos caused cancer in 1992 and 1995? Was it wrong?

American Cancer Society. Cancer
We can keep talking about whether or not drinking asbestos,
From old water pipes causes cancer, or we can do something.

You may want to reach out to Dr. Arthur Frank. He is widely regarded as one of the foremost experts in this area. After a half century of study he doesn’t see much of an unproven link.

The inventor of the asbestos cement pipe process was Italian. Italy is full of the pipes. Earthquakes in recent decades have broken a lot of Italian pipes. Some of the best research in this area is coming from Italy.

Allow me to put it this way. The U.S. EPA studied ingestion for two decades. (1973–1991) and regulated asbestos in water in 1992. It said cancer. The American cancer society says cancer. How can drinking asbestos fibres from old pipes cause cancer in 🇺🇸 and not 🇨🇦?

Edmonton has 1, 044 km of old
Asbestos cement water pipes. Check with your city Cllr or look
on the city’s open data site.
Regina has a handy map. The blue and red lines are asbestos cement water pipe.
