10 YEARS! It has taken 10 years for the prison, for the crown and the police to apologise to the family of Allan Marshall.

"This victory is not just for Allan, but for every family who has lost someone in custody and been denied justice.”

👀 This is such a wild story.

No system is perfect but when the justice system gets it wrong it can have a devastating effect on a person’s life.
One of our courtwatchers recently observed a shocking case of mistaken identity - whereby someone arrested for drunk driving didn’t give their own name, but instead the name and birthday of someone else. The drunk driver was sentenced in court still using the other person’s identity. 🧵[1/12]

“I am disappointed the sergeant didn’t ask if I was OK, or offer any condolences, after my friend died. I have never felt as dehumanized as I do in this moment, required to saunter alone, dejected, along the frosty breezeway.”

Oooft!! Prof. Angela Gallop does not mince her words.

“Like a plane hurtling downwards in what has become known as a ‘graveyard spiral’, with the pilot in desperation making increasingly erratic decisions, it can only be a short time now before it impacts the ground.”
