In Ottawa 🍁, sometimes with a camera, often on a bike 🚲 always trying to live without a fucking car
I find it very funny that apparently #ottawa has “snow clearing standards”

Nah, they just hate people who don’t drive all the time, everywhere, and as fast as possible. That’s the fucking standard

Your periodic reminder that transit and bus shelters are essential infrastructure. This isn’t rural, it’s 150 m from Bayshore mall #ottawa

Turns out this is a national practice by grocery stores. The rack here is partially uncovered but the design doesn’t work for any style of cargo bike… fa la la indeed ✌️

A “winter city” that has no pride, no care, no innovation cuz the balanced approach of austerity forever is the brain rot disease of #ottawa

And IMO, this much salt actually makes it more dangerous and easier to slip/slide and skid when biking
November 27, 2025 at 8:53 PM
We live right on Carling Ave and my normal bus is 49 mins late and we’re still waiting. But hey, transit committee heard all the nice sounding %s this fucking city likes to spout cuz none of those people rely on transit to live #ottawa 15 mins frequency my ass

As a previous cover lines writer… nice.

So is print in 2025

One simple litmus test: the fact that we haven’t banned people from driving through Lansdowne is also utterly fucking pathetic.

If you live outside of a car you will know there are 0, 0 fucking places in #ottawa people won’t drive on or through. We’d come here more often if it weren’t possible
November 22, 2025 at 8:23 PM
Well that was one of those “it was safer to bike the kid to school with studded tires than walk” kinda mornings #ottawa

I’m not a senior but I’ve been on the bus a 1000x with seniors whose these just like we do.

It’s amazing how tropes of generational hierarchy are trotted out to deny people the ability for folks to live and move outside of a car. Is it about seniors or being anti-car? Who’s to fucking say 🙄

A consistent feature of infrastructure maintenance in #ottawa winters is clearing of 1/2 the pathways, MUPs and sidewalks. Especially with heavy snow.

Even when there’s no road beside the pathway in an empty parking lot.

Cuz travel times for people driving is the overarching principle everywhere
November 11, 2025 at 12:24 PM
I know I sound hyperbolic sometimes but once you realize that cities like #ottawa prioritize travel times for people driving all year round, in every decision, you won’t unsee it.

Our walk to school ended with both of us covered in muddy slush cuz folks get to drive 60 🥰 love it

When a sign is placed along an off-ramp cuz I assume the MTO manual says so. Pinecrest is a monument of “fuck you” if you move around outside a car. God I despise Pinecrest. It’s so horrible and folks drive so fast #ottawa

Good time to re-up this photo I've had since 2019, when folks gathered at city hall after someone was killed right in front on Laurier Ave.

This is applicable in so many ways #ottawa

What’s 2025 without some tongue-in-cheek newspaper fun.

Legendary, no notes Peterborough Weekly

Bus and transit shelter is essential infrastructure

Speaking of downtown… 3-4 inches deep on bank street. This is a design feature
October 31, 2025 at 2:42 PM
Do people who design and maintain infrastructure for people not in cars ever walk anywhere? I doubt it tbh

I’ve gone 250 m to the bus stop and both pant legs are soaked and this body of water has a orange cone soldier which does not deter people driving big trucks #ottawa

Wild that crashes are happening and the new highway isn’t even open yet…

Just west of westboro beach on the KZM parkway #ottawa

Part of my job is as a photographer and it’s a game changer for a lotta reasons. Especially if you get one that can fit in public transit elevators! Here I have 2 camera bodies, lens, soft box, light stand and GODOX 1200 pro with a couple reflectors. Do this on this bike for 9 months a year
October 23, 2025 at 10:31 PM
Fencing is gone along the parkway westbound lanes.

In a related note this section is closed from the new westboro beach intersection and last night around 9:15, I watched someone drive around the cones cuz they were too fucking entitled to turn back. Wish I could have taken a photo 🥸😇 #ottawa

I want to uncharacteristically highlight something that brings me joy: the “Folding Trolly Dolly” is one of my fav things we own, living without a car. I love this thing. Going on 3 yrs of use. Highly recommend.

And don’t worry, it’s cool to use one 🥰😇 #ottawa

Here is a “Vision Zero Lead” on LinkedIn taking issue with a post from @tomflood.bsky.social where he decides to both sides the responsibility of “road users”

If I get killed by someone driving a fucking car, it’s not going to be a result of my dark clothing and headphones
