Chiefs have 10 players w/ 200+ yards from scrimmage:

Kelce remains their leading receiver bc Rice missed 6 of 9 games.

Worthy, Brown, & Thornton give them vertical threats, Smith-Schuster eats on crossers.

Smith is the forgotten receiving back with five first downs & a 68.4% success rate.

W/ @benjaminsolak.bsky.social back the @minakimes.bsky.social previews are must listen for me:

On Broncos - Chiefs:

KC needs to dial down moonshots for more horizontal.

Look for Den dime 🤔

Nix can't play scared. O needs to attack LBs.

"I have faith in Payton" 👀

Inspired by @stevenruiz.bsky.social talking about Caleb Williams's time to throw, I looked at what we can call Creation Time, which is the difference between time to pressure and time to throw when pressured, then plotted it against pressure to sack rate, per FTN.

Caleb in a world on his own.

The Broncos would be wise to run the ball against the Chiefs, who've struggled to stop it.

They'll miss J.K. Dobbins, he had a 53.6% success rate across 153 attempts for 772 yards 37 first downs & 4 TDs this year.

R.J. Harvey has a 34% success rate on his 50 rushing attempts.

Daniel Jones leads the league in success rate but is starting to have problems with sacks, and other things we can learn from going inside the QB numbers.

The reason for hope that Bo Nix develops into more?

@natetice.bsky.social "he's a great athlete, & he has a great arm"

It comes down to his footwork, the way he gets spooked by pressure, & his ability to read the field.

Can Sean Payton fix it?

301's @natetice.bsky.social "it's very predictable because they have to keep Bo Nix on the rails"

"It leads to a lot of tendencies defenses can tee off on"

"Yes he has some drops, but some of the drops because he missed..."

"The plays aren't given room to breath"

On today's Football 301 @natetice.bsky.social & Matt Harmon discussed fatal flaws on playoff contenders.

The Broncos have at least a top 3 defense, a top 6 offensive line, and decent receivers.

Bo Nix:

"This playbook right now because of the QB is very thin"

Broncos may be facing off against the Chiefs without

CB1 Patrick Surtain II
LG1 Ben Powers
RB1 J.K. Dobbins
LB2 Alex Singleton
ZWR/RET Marvin Mims Jr
HB Nate Adkins

Edge rusher Jonathon Cooper has his hand in a cast, ED3 Jonah Ellis left the Raiders game due to injury.

The Bo Nix stat I keep looking at: On throws over 10 yards, his off target rate is 39% (32nd).

When he’s in a clean pocket, that falls to…37% (also 32nd).

If you could add Jaylen Waddle to the Broncos for a first round pick, would you do it if you knew it cost you the next Ray Lewis or Alan Faneca in 2026?

Broncos with a Safety blitz to open the game vs. the Raiders.

The move to get Hufanga near the box after the first month of the season has really amplified this defense on early downs.

Joseph is starting to mix in different patterns to keep offenses honest.

Talked about this in Oct (below).

We're all expecting the Chiefs to make the playoffs, and they probably will when all is said and done.

That being said, they've lost the tiebreaker to the #6 and #7 seeds and are behind to the #5 seed. If they lose this week, they won't be in control of their playoff fate, either...

I think I'm done comparing the 2025 Patriots to the 1998 Cardinals. They're a lot better than that team.

Nobody good to compare them to. Other teams with super easy schedules were:
1) better (91 BUF, 99 STL)
2) much worse
3) veteran QBs
4) young QB not as good but much better defense (79 TB)

Early Sunday reminder to use all-up alignments.

- The RB (25) is in charge of the LB.
- The QB is in charge of Bynum (0).

Penix works to the longer developing route AWAY from the pressure. 💥
