Im surprised that you still have the probability of those guys getting moved as so high. If you think that their true north is to trade those guys then no, of course buying a rental as well wouldnt make sense.

Is it weird to have no issue with dealing a 3 or a 4 for a solid rental type dman? Like, thats not exactly selling the farm and it would be really helpful. I have to think theres some helpful middle ground between "buy nothing, and if anything sell" and "only buy expensive good young dudes"

Also his last two teams have each had ~one real life pass catcher. Pickens was all he had in PIT and now he has just a handful of games even having Wilson with NY. He "deserves" a shot on a team with an actual set of weapons to throw to. Maybe!
