Data Reporter with Kentucky Public Radio,Louisville Public Media,KyCIR,NPR.

A MUST LISTEN from @storiesbyjess.bsky.social.

Jess is one of the most incredible reporters I know. She has a very hard story about abuse of children, what happens when it goes ignored, and how a group of women fought for justice.

This is a hard listen, but a must.

I know, I know, media is DYING right? But LOCAL media is still out here doing the work, showing up, donning masks to breathe in fewer petroleum fumes and delivering the information our communities need. Allow me to demonstrate.

LPM's @justinhicks.lpm.org wrote a computer program to see how much Kentuckians will have to pay extra in premiums if they get their health insurance through the Affordable Care Act marketplace (Kynect in KY). Prices going up b/c GOP-run U.S. gov. hasn't extended ACA tax credits.
Many Kentuckians to pay hundreds or even thousands more for health insurance next year
Kentucky Public Radio analyzed quotes from the state’s health insurance marketplace and found premium increases ranging from 60% to 600% compared to 2025.

This is a bigger disaster than I think most are realizing. 1500 people have been displaced by the flooding with an exceptionally complicated response and recovery.
