The #BikeHFX community is amazing. So many people showing up in the rain, great music, bright lights, and lots of skilled marshals. Thanks everyone!

#BikeHFX I'm still looking for a few more marshals for Saturday's ride. If you can help out, please send me a message! @cyclehalifax.ca @criticalmasshfx.bsky.social

Last #KidicalMassHfx ride of the year with a great group of volunteers and participants. This #bikehfx event is always one of my favourites.

The best part of my commute in #bikehfx today (and every Tuesday). The graveyard always feels so quiet.

Beautiful morning for a long ride in the woods. The trail was BUSY!

View from the bridge at 8:45 this morning. The skies were clear at 6:45 when I measured 59.4mm in my rain gauge.

Whacked myself with my pedal at Kidical Mass today but didn't even notice until I got home. Too busy soaking up the joy of kids on bikes. So grateful for this community after a tough week!

Our local fruit selection right now is incredible. We literally have a problem where we can't not buy fresh fruit even when we already have lots at home...

We went out to the Salt Marsh Trail last night and there is a decent route through the maze of multi-use trails, suburb connections and quiet roads. It is long and windy, but really not too bad. Here is the route we took from the bridge. I think it can be refined a bit, but it is a good start. 1/2

Up early because of jetlag allowed us to get my bike reassembled by 630 am. Since the sun was shining we headed out for a ride on the COLT. Nice to see so many bikes and #bikehfx friends!

Thinking about those gathering in Halifax today to show support for bike infrastructure. Today we had a 4km ride to a city centre to catch a train and here is a snippet of the infrastructure we were treated to. Hard to not be sad that our vacation is coming to an end.

I also don't love using my personal story, but I did in this case. Here is a snippet of mine.

City sidewalks vs work sidewalks. They both had the same storm.

Warning: Sooo slippery!! Literally couldn't even stand on the bridge bikeway tonight, let alone bike. Caught be totally off guard. Thankfully there was a small patch of snow on the side to walk down! And the helmet proves it was freezing rain.

I've totalled it up. We've paid $6500 (before tax) on cars and distance for the past 3 years, so just over $2000/year for two people. On top of that we pay about $7.50/month in membership fees and $7/month to waive the damage protection (since we have insurance through our credit card).

A section of the Devonshire bike lane in #bikeHFX has been removed for parking. The flexiposts have been removed and the white lane has changed from solid to dashed. 😢

Lots of fun combining my roles as a bike marshall and "Ta Ta Tine" this morning at #kidicalmasshfx. Fun to see the kiddos in my life enjoy this event as much as I do. They love all aspects: the bike riding, the bubbles, the playgrounds, the snacks and the prizes! The organizers have perfected it!

A different kind of traffic on the bridge this morning. Fun to lead the women's 10k! Always less fun dealing with angry drivers who have to go one block out of their way.
