Build more skyscrapers!
Abolish height and far limits!

Looks great! I always tell people visiting (esp in the summer) that the ferries are one of the hidden gems of the city - for $4 you get the experience of a $50 tour (plus many more options for where to start/stop!) I do wish they were a little faster though...

Oof, I really wish they would increase the F frequency on weekends - when I was living in Brooklyn and had to take the M to get to midtown those M->F transfers could be painfully long

Mmmm good advice I suppose, hopefully there's a news story about it tomorrow at least

Ooh I'm so curious now, might bus over there to take a look

Mostly I don't like how they don't have a chronological feed and how they suppress news posts

Starter pack!

Maybe 2nd ave could zig zag to Ave C or D on 8th, connect to the M/J at an infill between Essex and the water, and then continue along E broadway to hit the F, and then go on the Brooklyn bridge?

It's unfortunate that under any of these plans Hell's Kitchen and East Village would still be far from the subway but I'm not sure how we could get it there - any line would be super highly used though - maybe a cut and cover under 10th or 11th from 79th to Hudson yards for Hell's Kitchen at least?

Re: 2nd ave as a local subway, I'm thinking something like the station density of the original 2nd ave elevated line would be perfect (but also replicated in the east-west portion) bsky.app/profile/lost...
What if we had a Second Avenue Subway, but it went ... everywhere?

(yes this is the real service pattern of the old second avenue elevated in 1920)

My other tweak I've been pondering is a stop on the Williamsburg bridge just as you enter Brooklyn, before Marcy Ave - if you are at the waterfront it can take ages to get to Marcy! I wonder if there are other good places for infill stations - seems like many lines don't stop near the shore...

Also I wonder if the interborough crosstown could be extended through Randal's Island to Cypress Ave - looking at Google Maps it seems like there are already tracks there?

Looks amazing, I'd love it if even half of this was implemented! I was thinking it might be nice to add a bunch more stops on the 2nd ave subway in Manhattan to make it more of a local service...

Ya! Also certainly interested in energy policy (really looking forward to when all of this new solar will show up in a lower real electricity bill and how we can make that happen!) and a behind the scenes look at politics sounds cool too - fun feed so far!

Hi! I'm a big urbanism guy living in NYC - build more skyscrapers 🌇

Like even if NYC got the large, widespread upzoning I think it needs, 10 years seems way longer than ideal to really start increasing building speeds

Super interesting, informative thread, thanks for sharing! Made me realize how few firms we really have building skyscrapers. I wonder how we could incentivize more new companies to enter the space (other than continuing on smoothing interstate frictions)
