Hi! I'm Michael. I'm a refugee of the great social media exiles of the 2024 election cycle. I'm also an artist, tinkerer, and educator. I'm excited to begin again. I work with wood, metal, electronics, clay, and whatever else seems right.

I hope science colleagues asking us to stand up for their research will see that the same solidarity is required for arts, humanities and social science research. If any of us are disposable, we all are eventually.
If you feel despair, if you feel defeated, if you catch yourself dissociating or focusing on what our oppressors are doing rather than on what you can do yourself—that is territory that the enemy has claimed within you.
Give them nothing. Focus on your agency. We are in a fight that we can win. 🏴🏴🏴
(1/2) I am building a library of physical materials in collaboration with my students. The physical world is increasingly abstracted through image and I believe that the increasingly exclusive use of image to understand a world that is inherently physical hinders our ability to live fully

I recently came up on a collection of hotel china (a few thousand pieces...). from the 30s-60s. It has me thinking about and feeling excited for clay again. Strange how things seem to spiral back into themselves, and how it isn't always a disaster.
