Hi Womble. Am part way through A Drop of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennett. It’s secondary world fantasy with a Holmes/Watson style pair investigating strange murders. Loved first book and this sequel is even better - great worldbuilding, weird biology and love the 2 main characters, Din and Ana
