This still life was an exercise in subtractive drawing. It’s such a fast and satisfying way to create shine and highlights.

Just wrapped up at the Hilton Head, SC No Kings rally. There were at least 1,000 people at its peak. I met a lovely woman from the Liberal Ladies of the Low Country. Keep it up America!!!!

My beautiful cat, Whiskey. She’s been my buddy for 16 years! When I adopted her, she was about one, shaved, covered in wounds, and, according to the little sign on her cage, in need of some
TLC.
I feel so lucky to have found the world’s best cat!

Black-billed magpie nest in the shed. They have a very basic nest but at least they’re out of the rain!

A cottontail rabbit for my mom on Mother’s Day. She has them in her yard and loves watching them play. I thought it would be a fitting Mother’s Day card!

Black-billed magpie (Pica hudsonia). A beautiful, highly intelligent bird. They're also great parents. I love watching them build their intricate nests. #Sciart #womenartists #birdsofbluesky

Northern Pygmy owl wing study.
These birds are one of my favorites because in rehab, they are SO feisty and tough. Even thought they’re the size of a tennis ball.

One of my favorite facts about elephants is that they have a dominant tusk. This tusk is often shorter than the other because it gets worn down with frequent use such as scraping into the bark of baobob trees.

Wildlife sketching/journaling in Zimbabwe, 2019- white backed vulture. One of many species of old world vultures threatened due to persecution, habitat loss.
I love how gracefully these birds fly, their quirky personalities, and the critical role they play in reducing the spread of disease.

I recently finished this tiger piggy bank for a friend’s three year old. I’ve been enjoying learning about underglaze and firing to different temperatures. I like how vibrate these colors turned out by bisque firing between two coats. #ceramics #art #womenartists #

I finished installing “Pro-DIY feather friendly bird collision deterrent markers” on my first window yesterday.
My honest review is that it was pretty tedious but it looks MUCH better than any other system I’ve ever tried. And I’ve tried many.
But the most important thing is if it works!

The birds are back! Today I’m working on making my windows more visible, aka bird-safe with @featherfriendly window dots. I’ll post a photo of the final result.
