Description? I'll have to think about that. Okay. Blue dot in a sea of red. Does that work?
Medicare no longer pays for Covid or flu tests. Thank you RFK Jr. I took a Covid plus flu test because I feel shitty. The test was negative for both. I wanted to take another test just to be sure. $9.00 for just a Covid test. Fuck that. I'll believe the test I had.

Why did Big Orange implement a military takeover of Washington DC? Violent crime numbers were down in the city. DC is not among the top 25 in violent crime in the USA. Neither is his "urban hellhole" home town, NYC.

Don't like the job numbers? Fire the messenger. That won't create jobs, but Big Orange doesn't care. What's important is not to disturb his fantasy world.

I'm sad about the cancelation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. I'm sad for the writers, Louis Cato and the band, and the rest of the 200 people who work for the show. Yes, like I believe the decision was strictly financial. Tell me another one.

"‘I was surprised he was appointed,’ Trump said. ‘I was surprised, frankly, that Biden put him in and extended him.’"

From NBC NEWS. That was Big Orange speaking about Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, whom he wants to replace. I guess he misremembered that he, not Biden, appointed Powell.

Wow! What a night! After my nightmare about ICE breaking into my house and zip-tying my hands behind my back, I woke up very disturbed. I drank some water and went back to bed, only to dream about an Armageddon world with structures intact but many people missing. The Rapture? I am exhausted.

My senator, Bill Cassidy (R-LA), sent me a 5 paragraph defense of his support of DOGE. My description of DOGE is 1 sentence: Musk's chainsaw massacre of our democratic government.

Bill Cassidy and the other members of Congress from Louisiana solved the problem of pushback at town meetings way back in 2017 when they were trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act during the first Trump administration. They simply stopped having open town meetings and haven't had any since then.

Nearly a month has passed since the election, and the price of groceries is still going up, up, up. What about the promise that prices would go down on day one?

Musk and Trump together are as fine an example of white supremacy as you're likely to see. :)

Orange Man sends out a memo on Monday and then rescinds the memo on Wednesday. Chaos reins. That's part of the plan.

Though I didn't vote for him, I gave Orange Man a chance in 2016, hoping he wouldn't be as bad as I expected. He was much worse. Now, he's out of control, and no one in the GOP is willing to confront him. The damage he's done to the country in his first few days is unimaginably destructive.

I spent the day before and the day we celebrate the life of MLK reading his speeches. MLK's day was also Inauguration Day. Irony is not dead. Non-violence, yes, King is absolutely right, but love? The great man is still right, but I'm not there yet. I don't give up. Maybe one day...

A snowstorm in the deep South in bayou country in southeast Louisiana. I've never seen anything like this here in my very long life.

Tomorrow, I will celebrate the life of the Reverend Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. Otherwise, I'd have to note the day as Doomsday here in the United States.

After Trump was elected to his first term, I tried to cheer myself up by thinking maybe he won't be as bad as I expect. He was very much worse. This time, I know he'll be a bad president. I just hope this term won't be catastrophic.

Jimmy Carter stayed alive long enough to vote for Kamala Harris. He didn't live to see Orange Man inaugurated. His grandson Jason's speech was lovely. Carter was a good man and a good president. I will miss him. I couldn't help but think of what a good president Kamala Harris would have been.

Speaker Mike is in again after 2 Republicans changed their votes on the first ballot. Speaker Mike squeaked by with the minimum needed to win, 218 votes to Democratic ranking member Hakeem Jeffries' 215. When I posted on Facebook, one of my friends left the comment "squeaker mike?". Perfect.
January 4, 2025 at 10:55 PM
Two Republicans changed their votes. Mike Johnson squeaks by and takes the speaker gavel by 3 votes, exactly 318, the bare minimum. I don't call that a mandate.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. As I'm sure you will, Mike. Tough for you and your boss.
