I'm definitely in the mood to post an #assassin bug, aka "wheel bug." Watching it molt was especially a thrill. Its coral color turned grey rather quickly. photo taken at Hornsby Bend, Austin, TX.

This afternoon's 9-lb plaster slab casting: "Desert Gypsum with Botanical Chromas." 10" x 10" x 1". Openings are backed with plaster cast w pigments and glass microspheres. #hydrostone #minimalism #sculpture #art #glass #color #design

Ulexite, a boron mineral, casts images from its bottom flat surface to its top surface via long tubular crystals. It's also called "T.V. rock" due to this cool television-screen illusion. In these pieces, I back-painted sky/clouds onto the bottom surface, which "magically" appear on the top surface.
