Thank you to West Sussex Libraries for choosing me as a champion in their centenary year. We are so lucky to have thriving libraries across the county, even in smaller towns and villages. Congrats on 100 years of brilliant (free) books! #amreading #libraries #writingcommunity

This is my writing space for the day. So happy to have finally made it to Gladstone’s Library. What an extraordinary place. And my room is amazing - look at the wallpaper ✨📚❤️

Wow, I saw this young hobby at Rye Harbour Nature Reserve and it was so bold. It flew around onto different fence posts so I could get pics at various angles ✨

Lovely conkers on an #EastSussex lane, including doubles and triples! When I was growing up in a seaside town, the local park had a couple of horse chestnut trees and the scary big boys always got to the best conkers first. These would have been unimaginable riches 🌱

What a remarkable novel - As the Women Lay Dreaming by Donald S Murray (seen here with sleeping cat). I had never heard of the 1919 Iolaire shipwreck. This book tells the story in beautiful, humane prose. Murray is a magnificent writer - now to seek out more of his novels📚 #writingcommunity #booksky

This evening I walked a disused railway line near Fakenham, Norfolk, and heard a cuckoo calling

Open gardens weekend in the village of Fittleworth, West Sussex. It was absolutely beautiful, even on a blustery Bank Holiday Monday 🌱

Hello and happy Friday to all my new followers. Here’s a pic of a fox cub in the garden, spotted early morning with three siblings. Sadly I wasn’t quick enough to get a pic of the whole family 🦊

Tomatoes now planted out in the greenhouse. There’s a yellow tomato, a cherry and a beefsteak. My sister grew them from seed but I don’t know which is which as I forgot to mark up the pots. We watch and wait 👀🌱

Lesser celandine in a wild patch of our garden. It’s very invasive - slowly creeping onto the lawn - but bees love it so I’m practising acceptance 🌱#SundayYellow

Snake’s head fritillary - hands down my favourite spring flower. That delicate curved stalk! So classy in comparison to the blowsy camellia that’s dropping like crazy in the background. Need to get sweeping 🌱#gardening

I love this stunning cover of #Hartisborne by Stephanie Norgate. Stephanie is an award-winning poet and brilliant writing tutor. I was lucky enough to read an advance copy of this wonderful novel - it’s set in a fictional Selborne, (home of ecologist Gilbert White) in 18th and 20th centuries.

You can’t see the blighter, but there’s a fieldfare camouflaged in this shot 🪶

Strange to think this peaceful field was once busy with Spitfire and Mustang fighter planes. 15 airmen died while on active service at RAF Coolham during WW2 - 8 Polish, 6 British and 1 Canadian.
