As workers continue to lose ground in the face of relentless federal attacks, states can hold the line and even advance it. I joined EARNCon in New Orleans to unveil TCF’s State Playbook, written with Rachel West. These are high impact ideas where states are already leading and more can do so.

As Acting Sec. of Labor, @juliesulabor.bsky.social worked with local labor and community leaders to help build the Atlanta Good Jobs Alliance.

She recently returned to Atlanta for a listening session with @staceyabrams.com and the coalition to strategize for the road ahead. Here’s what we learned.
What Labor Leaders and Policymakers Can Learn from Georgia
Georgia’s workers, organizers, and labor leaders know what it’s like to live and work in a hostile political climate. They know the challenges of

A good time to remember that the flight attendant, TSA officer, counter and gate agent, baggage handler, airport janitor isn’t the reason your flight is delayed.

Be kind to them. Let them know you see them. And thank them for working under these circumstances.

We don’t have official jobs numbers this month because we are in the longest government shutdown ever but Trump doesn’t want these numbers out there anyway. #shutdown #JobsFriday
It's Jobs Day November 2025
We didn't get official jobs numbers, but we do have a picture of what’s happening with jobs in America and it’s not a pretty one.

Omar Algeciras has spent his career at DOL making sure that workers get paid what they're owed. No worker should have to work without pay, but that's exactly what 700,000 federal workers have had to do for the last month.(🧵/1)

On Saturday I attended the celebration of life of my friend Howard Halm. I know he was a friend to many, so I'm sharing my thoughts and some memories. His life is woven into so many of the stories that define our community. I hope you'll tell yours too.

Listen to @theameilee.bsky.social and @toddntucker.com talk about trade policy & what’s really at stake. It’s not just about stuff, it’s about people.
Trade isn’t just about goods—it’s about power.

@theameilee.bsky.social explains how ignoring labor rights in global trade fueled inequality and political instability, and why trade must start with workers, not corporations.

In California, what we do affects the nation and often the world. In the 2024 presidential election, the people who didn’t vote brought about the outcome as much as those who did. Let’s show what happens when California shows up. #yeson50 #california

Black lung is still killing America’s coal miners. Last week, a group of black lung patients made the long journey to Washington D.C. with a simple plea for Trump’s Department of Labor: enforce the silica rule, and stop this plague.

Trump Has Handed Coal Miners a “Death Sentence.” But They’re Not Going Without a Fight.
After the government betrayed them by refusing to enforce a crucial workplace health rule, a group of coal miners traveled to DC to put Trump on notice.

David Huerta has always stood up for workers, immigrants, and justice — and now he’s being punished for it. His arrest isn’t justice, it’s intimidation. When we speak out, we take back power. Silencing truth-tellers won’t work if we all raise our voices.

Silica is deadly but it doesn’t have to be. We put in place a rule that would have limited exposure for miners and saved lives.
