In today’s episode of What Are They Thinking: “If you don’t see a hurricane coming… does it really exist?”

🚨 The Dept of Defense is shutting down its weather satellite program. No more data. No more updates. Meteorologists are scrambling—and we’re heading into peak storm season.

Brilliant timing.

Warnock: A budget is not just a fiscal document. A budget is a moral document. Show me your budget and I'll show you who you think matters and who doesn't. And if this awful budget were an EKG, it would suggest that our nation has a heart problem and is in need of moral surgery

This is absolutely worth a read - what would good leadership look like in universities? (Hint: it would start by recognising how universities actually do their best work)
Beyond Peak Centralisation: A New Leadership Paradigm for Universities
Universities are facing an era-defining question: not what we do, but how we lead. For years, our response to increasing complexity has been to centralise, streamline, standardise, and try to control.

In these days where disinformation distorts news, politics and decision-making, we shouldn't give in to pressure and add to the problem. Don't withdraw the #GreenClaimsDirective. People deserve to know the truth.
The EU needs an anti-greenwashing law. Dropping the #GreenClaimsDirective would be a major setback for consumer protection and sustainable businesses.

It erodes public trust, contradicts EU commitments, and weakens the fight against greenwashing and disinformation.

"Kelly said the world had an ever-narrowing pathway to reach net zero by 2050 and “within that pathway the role of gas as a transition fuel is also narrowing”.
