In the #Roman period #Chester was known as Castra Deva (prounced Dewa), meaning "the military camp on the River Dee" Chester began life as a fort occupied by the 20th #Legion (Valeria Victrix).

The mosaic for @devaroman.bsky.social from the @heritagechester.bsky.social 2024 festival is now installed in the garden!

We had our first mosaic workshop of the 2025 festival today and I'm really excited to see more mosaics added to the garden, this time a bit smaller so they can be dotted about!

We are back from a gorgeous few days in North Wales. Coincidentally we have had some lovely customers from Iceland who bought several pieces to take home including one of my #Llandudno limited editions. We love this view from where my mother lived as a child (by #Haulfre Gardens on the Great Orme)

A very enjoyable morning sketching on the Shropshire Union canal near Telford’s Warehouse with Chester Urban Sketchers. Scroll to see my initial pen sketch (0.5 unipen fineliner) before I added watercolour.

From this angle our street has changed very little since Louise Rayner painted it, as illustrated by my own painting. My ancestors lived here from the 1850s and would still recognise many of the buildings. juliecolclough.com/bishop-lloyd...

Happy #worldbookday memories of my son Joe in my 1st picture book Jungle Joe. Published in the 1990s, this was a milestone for me as it was the first book where I was both author & illustrator. Inspired by Chester Zoo, I didn’t imagine it would be published as far away as Australia. Happy Days.
