The academic world can be strange sometimes. After years of multiple rejections, we submit a new paper, and not only is it accepted right away, but it is also awarded the Best Paper Award!

compute clusters deserve vacation, too.... the head node of our compute cluster said hasta la vista until september, as the motherboard died, and can't be fixed before the 1st of september 🙈

I thought LLMs were at least supposed to useful for rewriting. I prompted claude to adjust a sentence to adhere to the end weight principle. What does it generate? The exact opposite....

Writing a literature review feels like a never-ending labour of love. I keep finding new papers and interesting angles to add. In a sense, it's the epitome of thinking as writing for me: helps me reframe knowledge & develop my own voice and vision.

My pytorch transforms be like: xarray -> numpy -> PIL -> tensor -> numpy -> tensor
because some transforms force PIL, and torch.nanmean is still the only torch summary stat function that can handle nans...

Dutch companies: the ban on emotion recognition with AI is inconvenient because having an AI helpdesk aware of your emotions would be nice.
