I know firsthand the desire to want to see your writing out in the wild, published. BUT it's a mistake to rush the process. Yet, I see writers do it all the time. There is a reason for why the process exists.

By all means, rush the process.
Rushing the publication process is so tempting, but a BIG mistake. Here is just a few of the flavors of the rush-the-process beast.

Christmas doesn't come from a store. It never has. It comes from the love of those around us. I learned this as a child. And when I learned the truth behind the memory (as an adult), it made the lesson even more precious. #Holidays #MondayBlogs

The lights go out, but it’s still the season of cheer
Winter was upon them and the chill leaked through the walls and windows. The young girl shivered, wrapping herself in the blankets that her mother had laid across her shoulders.

Creating a world set in 2220 definitely presented its challenges. (Read an excerpt from my novel.) #Books #SciFi #Thrillers
Predicting what the world would look like… (Excerpt from ‘Dancing in the Purple Rain’ included)
A deadly internet challenge and a global pandemic were what I needed to allow the full story to form in my head. However, I wanted to distance my story from the events of 2020. Shifting the story into the future provided challenges of its own.

We can pick any aspect of the process, and there was a challenge to face. But the most frustrating (on-going) challenge is trying to stay positive in the face of the dwindling finances and people (in the US) saying, "It only costs...", not understanding exchange rates. GAH! #PretendPanel #WriteSky
#pretendpanel, I hope you find today's question just as engaging as yesterday's, even if the emotions might be a bit more negative surrounding the question...

December 6th: What was the most challenging aspect of writing for you in 2025?

This sounds so exciting.
1) Love me a structure book
2) I always fear my antagonists are the weakest part, so thinking through their part in the story in a structural way sounds like such a good way to counter that.

I’m most proud of my publication of “Dancing in the Purple Rain”. My first novel publication (though not the first novel I’ve written). It turned out better than I hoped. #PretendPanel #WriteSky #BookSky
Happy December #pretendpanel! I hope you don't mind reflective questions. I'm a fan of them. But no worries if you give this month a skip, I'll understand.

Internet bullies (aka trolls) are real and can be very toxic. If we find bullying unacceptable IRL, then why do we let it happen online? #MondayBlogs #WritersLife #SocialMedia

Bullies can be found everywhere, from the workplace and the schoolyard playground, but if bullying is so wrong, why do we let it continue online?

I, like many others, started strong, then it all went belly up. For me, it was a little factor called life (& depression). There's only so much creativity that happens when you are struggling to piece together the chaos. Chaos in stories, I'm all good. Chaos in life... nope. #PretendPanel #WriteSky

Is anyone else feeling the increased stress and anxiety in the air? I'm not a fan of this time of year anyway, but this year feels extra stressful and overwhelming. And my "give a f***" tolerance level seems to have plummeted. Am I the only one feeling this?

My answer to this #PretendPanel question is Yes and No. #Writing challenges can help you get "unstuck", but sticking religiously to challenges can be restrictive and unproductive. I use them as just another tool when I need some motivation and inspiration.

The best way to support other #writers is to share your knowledge and help to spread the word of a book's existence. There is so much misinformation and lack of information about certain phases. And discoverability is hard at the best of times.

I’m currently reading “Hyphens & Hashtags”, a book about the history of punctuation. Apparently, in 1837, two Frenchmen decided that a duel was necessary over the use of a semicolon. I can envision the scene now; one man curled into a dot, with the other on the ground in a comma. 😂 #BookSky #Writers
