Pols didn't seem to realize that dynasty fatigue was working against HRC from the start. But we had had either a Bush or a Clinton for 16 years (1988-2004) already! That definitely helped Obama.
How people whose lives have been 100% politics can be so clueless about perception, baffles me.

They might be discussing it just to sooth his ego. He's convinced that his personal presence can win anyone over; he's just that amazing and awesome. "Sure thing, Mr. Trump; great idea!" I doubt there's any real intent to make it happen.

You need to re-check your satire awareness.

The most telling report card comment I got about my son (he's now 35) was (basically) this:
"He gets every math problem on the workbook page right, but I dread the moment he has to tear the page out. If the perforations don't tear neatly, he freaks out."
We know more now about what that means.

but it still shocked me that they had never read any Jules Verne, and very little Dickens. Then again, I've never read any Michio Kaku, one of my son's favorites.

That's about preferred authors, though. My offspring might not be representative of their peers when it comes to reading for pleasure.

I no longer read for pleasure as much as I used to (I'm not counting surfing the 'net) but I read everything I could get my hands on when I was younger.

I consider my daughter and son, now in their 30s, to be well-read for their ages, (1)

That's because all of us who knew it, didn't see a need to say so.

I'm reminded of analyzing the the bullet holes on planes able to return ....

But, hey, at least now those folks will know an iconic poem.

If that's serious -- ah, well.

If that's a joke on the air traffic situation -- bravo!

In a recent video with Heather Cox Richardson, you mocked a pundit who declared that the Democratic Party had won, and said that the DNC had nothing to do with it. Agreed! There are good Dem candidates despite the DNC, not because of it. The party leadership needs a shake-up.

What's the deal with John Cornyn? He never struck me as a diva who'd want to be dramatically late.
November 10, 2025 at 3:23 AM
Do I understand correctly, that the current vote is a vote on whether or not to take up the current deal for an official vote?

If so--given the apparently unfactored reluctance of some Rs, this isn't a done deal yet.

I'm not optimistic, but I also don't think it's as 'done' as they hoped.

Yes, he was a looker.

"Moms for Liberty candidates swept their races in Pennsylvania"?! Their ousting from their earlier victories in Bucks County was major news.
Also, 17 nationwide is not a very high number.

There's a disclaimer with this 'news' item.

The footnote here might help. It could be that the man's name is Gordon Findlay, but that Findlay is not an employee of Novo Nordisk.

The man who was speaking does ask "Gordon, are you okay?" Later, press spokesman David Ricks says ""Gordon was one of the Lilly guests at the White House today."

I haven't found an official surname, though.

I have ticked off a lot of people by defending actions that I thought were being unfairly criticized for political reasons. I think you're doing the same. But I fail to see why. It doesn't seem that we watched the same video.

Trump didn't walk at all, for starters. You say he walked, bent, spoke.
November 7, 2025 at 4:34 AM
Please link the video you saw that showed Trump "walking all the way over," bending down, and asking a question.
