New in PN: Judge rules that anti-woke is just racism

“'I’ve never seen a record where racial discrimination was so palpable,' Judge Young fumed. 'I’ve sat on this bench now for 40 years. I’ve never seen government racial discrimination like this.'

*More of this, please*"

If these shootings happened abroad news media would be calling it #Terrorism rather than political violence.
A man impersonating a police officer assassinated a Democratic state legislator in Minnesota, Gov. Tim Walz said on Saturday, and killed the lawmaker’s husband. The assailant also shot and injured another Democratic lawmaker and his wife, officials said. nyti.ms/4jRTrvw

How does one call a political movement that assassinates its opponents to take control of the state?
These are assassinations to flip control of the Minnesota House (was 67-67) and Senate (was 34-33).
Local media reporting that the victims appear to be two Democratic state lawmakers and a spouse. No word on injuries.

This is really, really dark news to wake up to.

"The story of the negative impact on the future of infectious disease research will only become part of public discourse if scientists speak up loudly"

A must read.

RFK Jr.‘s extreme anti-vax views — and his related conflicts of interest — were a huge problem during his confirmation process.

So he promised not to change the vaccine advisory panel.

Today, he fired every single expert on that panel. It's a public health disaster.
RFK Jr. ousts entire CDC vaccine advisory committee
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has removed every member of a scientific committee that advises the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on how to use vaccines.

I went for a nice long walk and returned to the most batshit list of new Advisory Committee on Immigration Practices appointees.

These people will vote to take away safe and effective vaccines because they make their living as wellness grifters and contrarians.
RFK Jr fired the entire vaccine advisory committee. Their job is to ensure vaccine recommendations follow the best available science.

He also says the June meeting will happen. So, don't be surprised when his next step is to appoint unqualified grifters.

RFK Jr is anti-vax and anti-public health.

You don’t need a think tank to figure this out.

Every single person in the world wants to be safe and comfortably afford housing, groceries, and healthcare. It’s really that simple.
EXCLUSIVE: A top Democratic strategist has launched new policy research and messaging hub, called Searchlight, with a goal of pushing the party toward the most effective, broadly popular positions.
Dems are quietly forming a think tank to help them win again
Searchlight, a name inspired by the birthplace of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, comes at a precarious moment for a Democratic Party.

The beachSUCKS! Lets lay on hot sand that gets everywhere & when we're miserably hot we can go float in saltwater inhabited by a bunch of shit that wants to eat you. Fucking amazing idea, should I bring a 600 lb. cooler? Hopefully there's nowhere to park so we can get a workout lugging all our shit.

This has always been the GOP's strategy:

1) Cut taxes for the wealthy & corporations by claiming they'll pay for themselves.

2) Explode the deficit.

3) Demand cuts to vital programs that help millions.

4) Repeat.

They're trying to get away with it again.

"This is a decision based, not in science, but in the false belief that the “unhealthy” are a static, unchanging group of people, and that public health is an individual choice, not a collective pursuit of government. "
I wrote about Republicans’ efforts to restrict access to COVID vaccines, and how this aligns with ongoing efforts to claim that COVID is the problem of a few “vulnerable” individuals, rather than a collective public health crisis.

Republicans' New Vaccine Restrictions Codify a False Healthy/Unhealthy Dichotomy
Denying vaccine access to the "healthy" makes no sense, not least because anybody can become disabled by a single COVID infection
