Resting at home after an arduous emergency surgery and hospital stay to remove an abscess from my abdomen that deeply sickened me for weeks. Evidently, I picked up an antibiotic-resistant, hospital-borne bacteria when having an emergency appendectomy in May.

Found in the wild: "The Missionary Kids: Unmasking the Myths of White Evangelicalism". I asked my local library to order a copy as it's relevant to our community that has mamy MK'S and retired missionaries, and they got it! Starting to give his book by @hollybfletcher.bsky.social a read.

The class took place in the Washington D.C. Metro region where my wife Christy Bruckner Matias and I founded and pastored a church for a decade, so it brought me much joy to be back in the neighborhood we called home. 2/3

What's a vacation without a little protest? We joined the #NoKings protest at the Tesla Statue overlooking Niagra Falls. Elijah and I got to stand on the statue platform and lead the call and response chants and songs for 150 gathered there for 2 hours. 1/2

Welp, just had my appendix removed after a late-night ER visit for significant gut pain. Grateful for Christy Matias' gentle kindness for me through this. Dialing it down the next few weeks of recovery.
