Like the CDC, the FDA has switched sides in the war on infectious disease, now siding with the diseases.

Doesn’t help that the NYT is helping these assholes to launder their disinformation.

Appointing RFK Jr & his cronies has been an unmitigated public health disaster that may take decades to fix
NEW: The F.D.A. announced in an internal memo that 10 children died "because of" the Covid shot. Other experts want to see proof.

“This is a profound revelation,” Dr. Prasad's memo said. “For the first time, the U.S. F.D.A. will acknowledge that Covid-19 vaccines have killed American children.”

I just want to point out that she pushed him and had this great line:

Gerson: “What I thought was really interesting about that column: at no point did you stop to consider whether or not America was a country worth joining.”

Douthat: “I did not.”

Gerson: “Which is a very American thing to do.”
Oh please just fuck off

In the Netherlands, over 40% of rail passengers arrive by bike. Since 2012 the country has invested €400m+ to add 200,000 new bike parking spaces at stations. The result? More rail use, fewer car trips, lower congestion and emissions, better public health - and far more efficient use of urban space.

I think it’s pretty clear at this point that one of the main impacts of LLMs is to disrupt thinking: to make it so that far too many people never properly learn how to do it, and then to control the output so there are thoughts that people never learn how to think.

That tracks. If you own a single-family house, work remotely, and have access to delivery, leaving your house at all requires a proactive choice.

And if you have a car, you could go literally months without interacting with anyone who isn’t in your household or being paid to interact with you.
👉 Our new paper uses daily mobility data to show that spatial isolation is much more common today among those living in advantaged neighborhoods than the converse.

Great post on how our unsafe trucks (they’d never be allowed in Europe) kill so many pedestrians, and how our governments and companies do almost nothing about it despite endless safety theatre.

Me: Ok, I'll go pick them up.

Wife: No, I'll do it, I need the bike ride.

Bikes are therapeutic for most things in life. 😉

I don't understand how anyone can watch how blatantly Grok is manipulated to answer the way ownership desires it to and then act like the other LLM chatbots couldn't possibly be similarly but less obviously compromised to produce responses in whatever way corporate interests and priorities dictate.

Cargo bikes are great because you can pick up bonus kids!

Today I got to bring @jamesthe500.bsky.social ‘s awesome kiddos (+ my 7yo) on our bike.

The speed bumps we went over on the route resulted in many giggles.

Riding together in a cargo bike is a great way for kids to make friends.
