Still going back through the budget to find new things I hadn't spotted before. Like this, on page 103, where a list of 25 sample projects are listed for a proposed new infrastructure fund (whose funding and conditions are a bit fuzzy).

Finally, this abstract from her March op-ed in the same outlet may give you additional perspective.

If you and others liking your posts haven’t yet done so, I would encourage you to read her piece, as she wrote it, not as @davidpugliese.bsky.social reported she wrote it. For convenience, I’m posting the screenshots below. Her views and mine are not so far apart and not hard to reconcile. 2/

Announcement from PM Carney moments ago and this is good news. I've been working on this issue with @saulschwartz.bsky.social and @agenestgregoire.bsky.social for years. We've documented how many Canadians don't file and miss out on or loose benefits, .. 1/3

Things are grim but there a spots of light. Like this amazing (and replicable!!) project to capture & share the life advice of the residents of Misericordia Place (by the Maryland Bridge) in my hometown of Winnipeg. We called from the dinner table. It’s SO GOOD. No notes

They emphasize that there has to be clear policy *intent*.
And then they suggest that the *effects* of the tariffs can be ruled to be consistent with that intent *if the target countries clearly take action in the hoped-for direction*.

Get it?

Some gardening pics.

Despite the near-drought, the allotment continues to provide.

Also, the backyard smells amazing right now. Thank you nicotiana sylvestris.

Cold comfort if you are an autoworker in Windsor or otherwise employed in sectors hit harder by tariffs, but this chart from @piie.com reinforces the fact that, even without a deal, Canada as a whole is in a relatively advantageous spot.

We still need to look after each other 🇨🇦. 1/2
