I finally finished clearing my mending pile after months of putting off some of the stuff in it. I put away all of my thread.
Kid came in with a torn shirt and asked me to mend it an hour later.

Sometimes writing is spending a lot of time crafting an intricate story with complex character backstories and crafting very realistic scenes and settings, pouring your heart and soul onto the page, and sometimes it's trying to figure out if the term "c*m-soaked" is hyphenated or not.

I prepared myself for "the talk" when I had kids but I did not prepare myself for having to explain a/b/o dynamics and fictional secondary gender as an additional offshoot of said talk and wow, parenting is weird sometimes.

My kiddo (12) volunteers at the library. I've just heard two people nearby debating for the past 10 minutes about whether or not the library is now hiring really young people or if they're just a very short baby-faced adult, and I'm unsure whether to clarify or just let them fight it out.

The number of baristas who forget "Jay" is a complete name and write J instead (also fine, I go by J too) but then think it's a weird squiggle and don't call me by name but instead by drink order (which I forget as soon as I've ordered) is not 0.
