A pair of 99.9985 kHz crystals from an HP3571A spectrum analyzer, part of a 5-stage filter that set the IF bandwidth. They are simply gold-plated flat plates packaged like vacuum tubes. Made by Northern Engineering Laboratories, Burlington WI.

From a 1960 book chapter by James Schoolery. Back in the day it was CPS=cycles per second and mc=megacycles, and there was always carbon tet if you needed a ‘deuterated’ solvent
