Went on a day trip to hell today. I highly recommend the yarn festivals there. #wartornportland

Figures, I finish these the night before the government reopens. I guess I’ll post them anyways, and this weekend I’ll go back and just change the tenses?

The friction arises from the tension between people wanting individual rights above, and at the expense of, the collective good.

The saying, “my rights don’t end where your feelings begin”, normally said in the context of 2A, applies.

Our right to vaccines doesn’t end where your vibes begin.

Governor Newsom @governor.ca.gov, Governor Kotek, and I launched a new West Coast Health Alliance today to ensure residents remain protected by science, not politics.

The Trump Administration has undermined the independence of the CDC and dismantled its vaccine panel.

KASIE HUNT: Over the summer you said, “There’s no vaccine that’s safe and effective”. Do you still believe that?

RFK JR: “I never said that.”

This administration's immigration policy is fundamentally sick.

Trump has wrongly detained lawful green card holders and even CITIZENS. No one should assume this was necessary.

These firefighters put their lives on the line for us ALL and Trump is detaining them.

1/ Yesterday, the FDA changed the license for the #Covidvaccine.

The vaccine label has been limited to everyone over 65 and for those 6 months through 64 years old with at least one condition that puts them at high risk for severe outcomes from COVID-19. This is a deep dive to bring you up to date👇

RFK jr. announces the NIH is working on a “universal vaccine” (actually a whole virus vaccine platform) that will be “safe and effective”. This is actually…fine? It’s being pitched as an alternative to the “dangerous” mRNA platform, which is dumb.

But the response from his people is…predictable.

Normal people worried about vaccines: “vaccine hesitancy.” This is good, I like this term.

Powerful people making money and gaining power by making people terrified of proven-safe medical treatments: “anti-vaxxers.”

Ok, but actually I don’t like this term.

I hiked a couple miles up to Rattlesnake Ledge this morning with @axxroy.bsky.social. It was beautiful at the top, but wow I’m out of shape. I had to take a break about every 5 mins. Meanwhile, there were people running the whole hike and couples carrying babies on their backs passing me.

I cannot emphasize enough how true & real this is.

In almost anywhere on the political spectrum you ID with or major issue, there’s probably a bot/troll operation to encourage your rage and vitriol.

And how/where that rage gets directed, esp understandable rage, is what they are out to influence.
People on this app get really angry every time I point out that social media manipulation is a real phenomenon that we are all stewing in and that’s having real world consequences and I’m sure part of that is engagement farmers who do that manipulation not liking people talking about it
