Hi, I'm Josiah. I produce a podcast called @fruitlessmedia.bsky.social about politics, media, history, religion, etc. It's pretty eclectic, but fun. I did a few pods before that.

I like how the average democratic senator is saying stuff like My Constituents Keep Asking Me Why Can't You Put Your Differences Aside And Work For The American People? While meanwhile the average normie liberal wine mom is Google image searching "Nail Bomb Schematics"

When I talk about the invention of "AI" as an attempt to manifest the Infinite Money God, this is part of what I'm talking about. Private equity achieved the ability to make money without a good or service—AI is the attempt to make money without even customers or employees.
This is one of the things I hate most about modern capitalism. The idea of making money has been fully peeled away from delivering any kind of goods or services that people would want to pay money for.
What a thrill to be part of @talkingpointsmemo.com's series about the past 25 years of digital media! I wrote about why private equity goons destroyed Deadspin and why it matters.

The problem isn't that they caved for a promised vote; the problem is that the vote will be a meaningless gesture impressing no one but Senate Democrats.

It will fail. ACA beneficiaries will suffer considerably as a result and there will be no consequences of any kind for Republicans.
Whoa -- Sen. Durbin went to up Leader Thune during the vote last night to tell him that on the shutdown vote and ACA promise that "8 of us are sticking our neck out that you're going to keep your word. I hope you will. He said 'I assure you I will,'" Durbin says just now

This shit fills me with so much contempt. I've had to work on Thanksgiving and Christmas before as a bartender, and you're telling me some fucking senators couldn't suck it up and do that once in order to slow the rise of fascism. Cowards. Pathetic. I hate them so much
It really does seem like there's a decent chance that these senators screwed us because they don't want their personal Thanksgiving plans to be disrupted.
Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

We need a service worker revolution.
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.
