Brief intro, since others seem to be doing it: part time music educator, part time educational representative, part time musical performer, conductor/trumpeter/horn player. Degrees from North Texas and Ball State. Trekkie. Very amateur photographer. Awful golfer. Atlanta Braves/Detroit Lions fan.
In honor of their amazing season and nearly making the playoffs, my favorite picture from undergrad at North Texas. Taken just before the 2003 New Orleans Bowl outside of the Superdome. #GMG

Quick but lovely day-date to Jim Thorpe.

I somehow have no gigs in December other than Christmas Eve, but I hit the ground running in 2026! Three shows (with a potential forth) between January-April. I’ll be trumpeting in Beehive, then conducting Mamma Mia! and The Drowsy Chaperone.

Hope everyone is having a beautiful holiday weekend! I got some outside lights up and baked the first round of snickerdoodles amidst some lovely family time.

Can anyone explain why if you already have to upload your CV to an application portal you then still have to type all of the exact same info into the portal? Is it a way to weed out lazy people? Or a way to hire people you know will follow through with redundant tasks?

In 1994 in 7th grade I was given the chance to play 3rd trumpet in my HS’s production of Brigadoon and immediately fell in love with it . For the past 10 years I have served on the drama staff. It was special to have celebrated the program’s 40th anniversary with students past & present yesterday!

Was just listening to a podcast that is reviewing a show about music, and they just referred to a baton as “the conductor stick”…

Very up/down month: show I was supposed to music direct AND gig for this weekend cancelled, lots of extra work for a dysfunctional project w/o extra $$$.

But…great 1st marching band season @ new school, all A’s so far in masters #2, and really enjoying private teaching for the 1st time in years.

Picked up this book at a cool little bookstore off the boardwalk. I’m fascinated by music’s effects on the human brain, and wish I had the intelligence to understand the neuroscience to be able to participate in the research being done in this area!

Busy but lovely weekend: took my marching band to the beach for a parade on a beautiful day, played a gig, and celebrated Andrew’s 15th birthday!

Just had maybe the most unfocused trumpet practice session I have had in a decade. My face was playing but my brain was in 72 different places, none of which had to do with playing the trumpet.

Taking a break from homework to practice for a gig next Sunday. Then more homework, then planning school visits tomorrow, and rehearsal tomorrow night. Eventually…sleep.

I forgot how much reading there is to do in grad school! I feel like if I’m not at work or rehearsal or a performance I am reading.

Underwoods in concert. I love and am so proud of these goofballs, and it was so exciting to conduct all four of them in the same ensemble for the first time.

Some midnight score study. Concert tomorrow!

Rehearsal number one at my new school! Weird to not be at Mifflin after 11 years, but off to a great start at this new venture!

Took a hike at Rickett’s Glen State Park for Abigail’s birthday. Took along my good camera and got some cool pictures with my shutter speed slowed down.
