Preschool Christmas concerts aren’t really singing, it’s just kids mumbling until the part they know & then SCREAMING the words like Will Ferrell’s SNL voice modulation character anyway it’s pretty cute.

Was told growing up to beware situational ethics & the erosion of moral absolutes. But I was told the liberal secularists were the ones to watch out for …
Republicans and White evangelicals used to be the least likely to agree "an immoral elected official can still behave ethically professionally." Today they're the most.

_ 71% Republicans agree (36% did in 2011).

_ 68% White evangelicals agree (30% did in 2011).

Fargo s5 mostly didn’t work for me, but I am an easy mark for unexpected catharsis involving Christian imagery & the end scene, the offering of “the bread of life” that can wash away the sin of the past got me good, especially when stacked against the God & country pseudo-faith of Roy Tillman.

Killers of the Flower Moon 3 1/2 hour running time isn’t brisk. It’s not exciting. It’s not propulsive. You’ll feel how long it is. It’s punishing. it makes you sit in a hostile, stifling, oppressive world & be worn down by the hopelessness.

It tries to make you feel how the Osage felt: trapped.

The only sane thing I’ve read this week about Israel & Palestine. It provides a broad historical perspective, recognizes Hamas’s slaughter as an abomination, while also seeing what inevitably led to this. It offers zero easy answers & no heroes.

Please set aside time to read it. t.co/3kg69XTnWd
The attacks on Israel, and the response.
The Israel-Palestine conflict has unraveled.

the secret to enjoying yourself at an airport is to accept that they are unreal spaces where the laws that govern reality crumble. partake in the madness. metal busses fly. GQ is literature. taking off your shoes stops terrorism. dine like kings on $100 burgers. chug 9am beers. embrace the madness.

Rage’s “Sleep Now in the Fire” music video has both aged so much (Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Michael Moore), aged barely at all (the rot of late stage capitalism), & … well and then there’s this screenshot:

PUBLISHER 1: “So the next book in our beloved children’s series is almost ready, we just need a title.”

P2: “our title character has to decide something, right? So maybe, like, Sophie’s Decision?”

P1: “terrible suggestion. You’re fired.
New guy, you have any ideas?”

P3: “well what about …”

Tom Cruise has apparently sworn off any attempts at portraying a sexual being on screen and this is right and good and as it should be.

I do the "haha" in texts thing that people make fun of. Listen. Every single thing in life makes me nervous. That's just how it is. I had my chance to grow into a different kind of person twenty to ten years ago and I blew it.

You know that scene in Home Alone where Kevin is at first worried he’s been left by himself, then realizes how great that is?

That’s me, just now, thinking about how I only have 20 followers on here.

It’s been obvious for awhile now that large swaths of Christianity have a massive sexual abuse problem. The question is why?

Here are some of the common causes, as well as some of the solutions, I’ve seen in my time as a journalist & a pastor 🧵
