Cuomo is a serial sexual harasser who is responsible for the deaths of thousands of senior citizens in nursing homes. He lost because he stands for the politics of the past.

With 91% of the vote counted, Mamdani already has 282,250 votes more than Adams got in 2021 as well as > 275,000 votes more than de Blasio got in 2017. He has almost as many votes as the total votes cast in each of those 2 past elections. Cope harder.

Look at this tonedeaf crap. Resist libs are the most out of touch people on the planet. We don't elect President of the Democrat Party. We elect President of the United States. Two parties gatekeep the candidate selection process and decide who gets to pick the candidates because Democracy® I guess?

Under capitalism, the state is a special organization of violence for the suppression of the working class by the owning class. Of course they rig the game. This is a feature of capitalism, not a bug. Again, read Lenin.
In the first place, at the very outset of his argument, Engels says that, in seizing state power, the proletariat thereby “abolishes the state as state". It is not done to ponder over over the meaning of this. Generally, it is either ignored altogether, or is considered to be something in the nature of “Hegelian weakness” on Engels' part. As a matter of fact, however, these words briefly express the experience of one of the greatest proletarian revolutions, the Paris Commune of 1871, of which we shall speak in greater detail in its proper place. As a matter of fact, Engels speaks here of the proletariat revolution “abolishing” the bourgeois state, while the words about the state withering away refer to the remnants of the proletarian state after the socialist revolution. According to Engels, the bourgeois state does not “wither away", but is “abolished” by the proletariat in the course of the revolution. What withers away after this revolution is the proletarian state or semi-state. Secondly, the state is a “special coercive force". Engels gives this splendid and extremely profound definition here with the utmost lucidity. And from it follows that the “special coercive force” for the suppression of the proletariat by the bourgeoisie, of millions of working people by handfuls of the rich, must be replaced by a “special coercive force” for the suppression of the bourgeoisie by the proletariat (the dictatorship of the proletariat). This is precisely what is meant by “abolition of the state as state". This is precisely the “act” of taking possession of the means of production in the name of society. And it is self-evident that such a replacement of one (bourgeois) “special force” by another (proletarian) “special force” cannot possibly take place in the form of “withering away". This is why the left can't take liberals seriously. When COVID hit, some programs were enacted to help alleviate poverty. Biden let those programs expire while COVID continues to ravage the country. If something is making life better, Democrats SHOULD say, "We tried it, it worked, we're keeping it."

I wrote this on Facebook 5 years ago. When do we do something about the dog?
I get that a lot of people are voting for Biden, saying, "He wasn't my first choice, but Trump's gotta go," and if that's how you want to spend your time on November 3, go right ahead. But what's frustrating to me is that Biden's talking about hiring a bunch of right-wing Republicans for his cabinet and people are like, "doesn't matter, Trump's gotta go," and Biden won't support single payer healthcare, a Green New Deal (or even a fracking ban, which should be a no-brainer), he won't defund the police... and then there's the fact that his record in the Senate shows him writing the bill that the Bush administration would later dust off as the basis for the PATRIOT Act, voting for the Iraq war, writing the 1994 crime bill, the bankruptcy bill that prevents the discharge of student debt in bankruptcy, etc. And when we look at what we've had for the last 40 years, we get right wing Republican presidents or we get Democrats like Clinton and Obama who govern like Reagan Republicans. So when the left asks, "When do we get to vote for someone who is offering working people something?" we're told, "Now isn't the time." Every four years, it's not the time. Every midterm election, it's not the time to elect better members of Congress either, just gotta stop/remove the Republican. But this is like waking up every morning to a bigger dog turd in your living room than the day before, and every day you just say, "Look, now's not the time to talk about preventing tomorrow's dog turd, just clean up this one." But tomorrow, sure enough, there's an even bigger turd and we never stop to think that maybe we need to do something about the dog. And in this analogy, the system that only gives us right wing Republicans and right wing Democrats is the dog.
