In fact, is that the *only* infinitely extensible family of power of two mirror-symmetry n-iamonds? Pac-Man seems like the only 4-iamond with mirror symmetry; the only other way I see to "unfold" that into a larger mirrored 8-iamond can in turn unfold into a 16-iamond, but no further. Huh!

One version of that class of perfectly optimal n-iamonds that is easy to illustrate: repeated iterations of this sort of "stack of Pac-Mans" figure, where each larger iteration starting from the n=4 figure just stacks an extra copy on top; each fold reduces by half, here from 16 to 8, 4, 2, and 1.
