New research shows that news outlets were right: AI search features are tanking their traffic. I wrote about that, but also how this might be the end of SEO as a whole, which could give rise to something much, much more annoying

Everyone has one Mitch Hedberg joke stashed in their brain like a squirrel to sustain them whenever they need to feel joy for 30 seconds and mine is “they say the recipe for Sprite is Lemon and Lime but I tried to make it at home, there’s more to it than that”

This blows. You could tell that everything at Polygon was done thoughtfully and purposefully, so getting bought up by a place like Valnet and laying off the people responsible for its editorial approach hurts extra bad

This is profoundly sad, both for what this kind of society would be like and what it says about Zuckerberg as a person
Mark Zuckerberg says Meta's chatbots will supplement your real friends: "The average American has fewer than 3 friends ... but has demand for ... 15 friends" (h/t x.com/romanhelmetg...)

This result is the most wild to me. Masse has been the MP here since 2002 and could be the difference in the NDP keeping official party status

You may think watching the election results this early are a waste of time, but I am really enjoying seeing the choices all these people in Atlantic Canada made for their headshots

Canada’s tech executives turned against the Liberals and bet the Conservatives would win the next election.

But with Mark Carney poised to win after Monday’s vote, they don’t have much to fear. He’s already made it clear he’s on their side — and has the policies to prove it.

They bet on the Conservatives, but the Liberals will give them much of what they want anyway

historically speaking, the Detroit Lions are not the best example to follow if you're trying to win
Slotkin wants Ds to stop being "weak and woke" & channel "the “no-bullshit” energy of Detroit Lions coach who she says is “a wonderfully sappy guy with his players" but “smart and tough and lovable.”"

In other words this is all abt style over substance & channelling NFL's perennial losers. Nope.
Slotkin has a ‘war plan’ to beat Trump. Don’t be ‘weak and woke.’

I saw a job post today that said applicants should see AI "as a creative sidekick, not just a tool" and be "curious about how it can level up your process" and I would have ran away from that browser tab if it was possible

Hey does anyone have a good explanation for why, when I access the CPC website from Google search, it lists AI search engine Perplexity as the traffic source? Happens across different browsers, but only on Google search, and only for this website (as far as I can tell)

Most of the games I'm excited for (Hades II, Metroid, Silksong, Z-A) will also be released on Switch 1. Before tariff chaos, I figured I might as well get a Switch 2 since I'll eventually upgrade anyway. But now I'll wait, and I wonder if others doing the same will impact Switch 2's launch success
Switch 2 console price is steady for now, but accessories are more expensive than they were two weeks ago. And: "Other adjustments to the price of any Nintendo product are also possible in the future depending on market conditions." 😬 www.wired.com/story/the-ni...
The Nintendo Switch 2 Price Won't Get Hit By Trump's Tariffs
Preorders for the console will resume next week at the previously announced price of $450 but accessories are getting more expensive.

Here is Ricochet Media's @ethancox.bsky.social dressing down Ezra Levant for disrupting the leaders debate

Levant and Rebel and all the associated people are such dorks
It’s all a goddamn Potemkin village. Take, for example, noted bigot Keean Bexte. He runs an “outlet” called CounterSignal.

He’s sitting with Rebel people, and pops over to Levant to show him things on his phone regularly. Taking direction.

They have as many “outlets” as they can create websites.

OpenAI might make its own social network, which could help it monetize viral moments. But if you lose a bit of respect for anyone who posts an AI image, you know that result is going to be less Instagram, and more "4chan that boils the planet."
