The best antidote to news and social media

You only need to speak to a handful of people in a community, local businesses, or on their doorsteps to know politics doesn’t have to be as bad as it seems

As divisive and hate filled as it seems

It can be better 🧡

Over 80% of offsets fail. And carbon markets are a total system failure

The majority of effort should still focus on DIRECT impact. But whatever CSR budget you might have, fund positive impact. Not greenwashing.

Stop wasting your CSR budget—fund impact, not greenwashing offsets
Most enterprise attempts at offsetting fail.

Encouraged by the interim report from the UN High-Level Expert Group on Beyond GDP

Although there needs to be more focus on the step-by-step unpicking of current systems and transition planning from where we are now to the final output

This seems like an incredible carbon capture development... anyone know whether and what the catch might be?

New pressure method captures 99% of CO2 for just $26 per ton
New PICC tech uses water and pressure, like soda fizz,to capture 99% of CO₂ at far lower cost than chemical systems.

How can we keep being this cruel?

Temporary refuge, 20-year waits for settling, limiting family reunions, looking for any excuse to remove support

Whether I hear it from asylum seekers and charities directly, or read national news... I feel sick

Fast-track deportations to be announced as part of asylum reforms
Plans to end multiple appeals against removal and speed up deportations are expected to be unveiled.

When shouting about sustainability becomes optional, who isn’t staying silent? The fossil fuel industry

#COP30 sees another rise in the ratio of fossil fuel lobbyists to other attendees, as more and more companies and governments stay silent

Thank you so much for this @pluslibdems.bsky.social 🧡

I wish it wasn’t needed

I’ve signed both as a candidate for FPC and will do anything I can to support you and to push the party back to its best progressive self if I’m successful
LGBT+ Liberal Democrats condemn our party's decision to base internal gender quotas on sex assigmed at birth.

This trans-exclusionary decision is an attack on one of the most vulnerable groups in our society.

Carbon markets are failing

Less than 16% of offsets are effective in reducing emissions

Companies should switch their mindsets from offsetting to positive contributions - what Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) was meant to be
