Yesterday I got a tumbler from Kinto, and at the store I asked for the 12oz (vs the 8oz). The clerk brought both boxes back and asked “uhhh do you know the milliliters?” And I said “it’s this one,” and took the larger. And she asked “wow do you just know 12oz by sight?”

Uhhh… so I was in Pirates of Penzance for like 5 consecutive years as a kid, haven’t seen the movie since l was 12 or so, watching it again for the first time in 30 tonight. Realizing Rex Smith may have had… a LOT to do with my tastes during my twinkish indie sleaze years.

There’s an elderly gentleman on my flight who is listening to nature sounds — frogs and crickets — to fall asleep, except his headphones are not plugged in, but he thinks they are, so actually WE are all listening to frogs and crickets, at 30k feet. It’s very surreal and not entirely unpleasant.
