It’s out! In the new issue of JAEH, my article examines one of the first Indigenous Oaxacan migrant political organizations formed in the 1980s. I show how Mixtecos drew from their communal governance learned in their pueblos to defend their migrant communities in San Diego!

Exactly. This is why they want to ban Ethnic Studies from schools — to keep people ignorant of this history and to keep alive the myth of American exceptionalism. This isn’t just stuff that happens “over there.” If you want to talk about Nazis you need to talk about what they learned from Jim Crow.
It's as American as chattel slavery, the Trail of Tears, Japanese internment, and Indian Boarding Schools. Project 2025 really isn't relying on any other history than America's. I need y'all to tap into what has been happening here all along.
The Trump administration is saying that they can deny due process to anyone they want and deport them to dangerous foreign prisons.

This isn’t even Project 2025.
This is Nazi Germany 1933.

(A bit late) but I’ve been really enjoying the new books network podcast, especially being able to listen to scholars talk about their books as I go on walks. It’s exciting to hear their enthusiasm and learn a bit more about books on my to read list.

I was raised in a multi-generational organizing family and I can say with firsthand knowledge that 20th century organizers read theory and they studied history and literature quite closely

The need to do that hasn’t changed

If studying history isn’t part of your organizing work, change that
