I started making refrigerator pickles during the pandemic. Last night I made my first batch of self-stable, water bath canned pickled vegetables. They need a few weeks to mellow (lots of vinegar), but I can't wait to see how they turned out and hope to not get botulism :D

I just learned about Daruma dolls, a traditional Japanese talisman of perseverance and good luck. I set a goal and color in one eye. The Daruma then watches silently as motivation. When the goal is achieved, I fill in the other eye, completing the Daruma's vision. White represents personal goals.

Made "Marry Me Chicken" stuffed spaghetti squash. Sounded great, but I definitely wouldn't have married anyone for it. Waste of good homemade sun-dried tomato pesto IMO. Good thing he already married me 🤣

Just got my copy of the AAA Road Atlas for 2024. I love paper maps!!! HOT TIP: If any paper maps actually go into production that say Gulf of America, snap them up!! They'll be valuable collectors items you can show your kids from this brief, unfortunate time American history.

Dinner at Trader Vic's in the Hilton seems like a no-brainer :) Then walk across the skybridge to the Atlanta Marriott Marquis hotel. The lobby atrium is truly mind-bending. You can ride the glass elevator to the very top. It was so amazing and trippy, we had to go back and see it again.

December was particularly boozy. January's time for a fresh start. I'm now on Day 8 of Dry January, and I feel like I'm almost over the hump. The drink pictured here is my non-alcoholic version a whiskey sour: the Earl Grey Sour. It's made with chilled decaf Early Grey tea instead of whiskey.
