there's a story - when I finished my PhD, I graduated in January with the ceremony to come later so they mailed the diploma and my wife gift-wrapped it. The next day when I made a sarcastic remark, she said "Ok, Mr Smart-Ass" and I said that's "Dr. Smart-Ass" to you - or even "Rev. Dr. Smart-Ass!"
