Prohibited activities include advising Chinese graduate students. For reference, a recent Georgetown report estimated 16% of STEM graduate students in the US are Chinese nationals.

This would take out entire fields at the knees, which is perhaps the point.
“The prohibited activities would include joint research, co-authorship on papers, and advising a foreign graduate student or postdoctoral fellow. The language is retroactive, meaning any interactions during the previous 5 years could make a scientist ineligible for future federal funding.”

You can disagree and argue as much as you like but the point of evaluating something scientifically is that not every statement should be given equal credence because evidence matters

If UbiSoft puts themselves up for sale, their potential buyers would be wise to wait at least two months before purchasing so they can buy the company at 50% off.
Ubisoft just postponed its earnings report and halted the trading of its shares. Unclear why at this point but could indicate a major announcement related to the company.

Get outside into a dark place if you can tonight - no guarantees, but a possible brilliant display of the northern lights.
We have upgraded our geomagnetic forecast today (12 November 2025) to the highest intensity level amid an ongoing solar storm.

Current predictions suggest that the activity will result in potentially the largest solar storm to hit our planet in over two decades.

Simpler: give healthcare directly to Americans
Trump’s new health-care proposal — to give insurers’ ACA subsidy money directly to Americans — would require an act of Congress that’s wildly unlikely. (They can’t even agree on much smaller ACA changes.)

But it’s his latest bid to pressure Democrats as shutdown drags.

Trump urges Senate GOP to give ACA subsidies directly to Americans
Obamacare subsidies have been a sticking point for Democrats. The president wants to send the funds directly to Americans, which would require congressional action.

Before Metroid Prime 4 launches next month, join us to revisit 2006's Metroid Prime Hunters. This ambitious title from NST (with help from Retro) sought to bring Metroid Prime to a handheld while also adapting it into a competitive online shooter. It also introduced us to Sylux.

Here's how to turn it off.

I feel like astrology was the gateway to AI and chatGPT. Like I learned to politely just be quiet as an otherwise intelligent friend was like, “Well, it *is* Virgo season!” and now you hear someone go, “I asked ChatGPT how to hammer a nail” and I’m like, I should have called you an idiot sooner.

Yup! 100000% its hard to tell people to hope because hope is very very hard to cultivate and maintain. It requires an extremely difficult to reach and harder to maintain minimum threshold of faith with the implicit understanding that you may not be rewarded for it in your lifetime. Thats a HARD ask.

I think what's needed is for an enterprising engineer to develop a modernized version of the display that can be easily manufactured and remains compatible with the legacy software.
