Its so awesome when someone, somewhere in the unknowable depths beneath where you do your piddly little computer things has an opinion that suddenly surges forth and forces November to have 31 days in a cyber-island you didn't even know you were […]

I wonder what the biggest "complexity letdown" has been in science, where something with a ton of complex theories turns out to be an extremely simple phenomenon. Like e.g. scientists studying attention are like "its a complex multisystem phenomenon that needs to carefully balance..." And it […]

Its weird how scientific communications infra has resulted in the easiest questions being hardest to find answers for. Like I wanna know "how come potato lasts so long without rotting" but nobody has ever led a research group at the cutting edge of potato longevity, so something that someone who […]

I hate driving as city commuting and car culture and etc. but I love driving as long distance travel, because the highway system is sort of this incredible and massive system of infrastructure for shooting extremely fast through and to some of the most outrageously beautiful things I have ever seen

the only winning move would have been a hail mary "pay us or we blow up firefox" move, which would honestly imo have been better. out maneuvered by 25 years of capital accumulation in browser standards setting.
Oh also it's impossible for Mozilla to do a good job at their ethical slash alternative AI thing because they can't put others on blast because they get money from them, so they're still in the dilemma. Succeeding at that would require radical communication, which they definitely cannot afford […]
