Springtime in the Alps….

A glorious morning for a run. 37K with 4 x 5K at marathon pace (1K recovery). The highlight was during the third rep when it was tough going, The Sisters of Mercy’s cover of Jolene by Dolly Parton came on the playlist. I wasn’t expecting that and it was excellent! :-)

Found a small loop (600 metres) this morning. Compacted snow underfoot, not ice. Ran round it for a couple of hours. The end.

Winter has definitely arrived in the Alps. This week we’ve had clear days and days where you can’t see the mountains as the cloud is too low. The walking crampons have made their first appearance of the winter. It won’t be the last.
