Grandmother Fish (Macmillan 2016), the first book to teach #evolution to preschoolers, plus science games for kids (www.grandmotherfish.com). Over the Edge, #TTRPG of surreal urban danger (atlas-games.com/overtheedge). D&D 3E, Ars Magica, Everway, etc.
Yes, and this is a premise of Everway. Everway art cards work great in various fantasy settings.

that sounds like something i would have said in the 90s, after I came to appreciate hit points, Armor Class, experience points, and classes

Here's George Lucas's THX 1138 (1971), where the protagonist visits a computer Jesus

Here in Seattle, the public schools were teaching kids to read the way that struggling readers read. Then the pandemic hit, and parents were able to see for themselves what the teachers were teaching. Soon the schools were obliged to switch to phonics.

We sure leaned heavily on SCREWTAPE for the demons in Ars Magica

Tracy and I had our daughter convinced that we had a pony that we took out to play with when she was out of the house. And she could see the pony "next year" when she was older. That worked for a couple years.

In middle school, my daughter knew two sisters who thought Santa was real (or said they did). Their mother had told them that Santa was capable of miraculous deeds because God was making it all work.

The story of Santa Claus seems to be a practice run for kids learning to become atheists.

Later I realized that I'd balanced the battles for four characters, so I guess the balance is good!

The magical fountain boosted a random ability score of the fighter, and Rob rolled Strength. His 18-Strength fighter is now a 19-Strength fighter. 2/2

Great book. I recently reread it over the same weekend in which I read “Story of Your Life” by Ted Chiang. That's the movie Arrival was based on, and it's strangely similar to Slaughterhouse Five.
