Greed and corruption are not limited by age or generations

It is a bit more complicated than that in the US. Besides donating money and pressuring elected officials (and not voting for Trump, obviously) what can I as an individual actually accomplish? Please enlighten me.

And, sadly but now normal, not a word about this in US media...

And the world needs to face accountability for genocide in Sudan, Myanmar, and Ukraine among others...

This is fine... depending on the length of the winter break and if MLS can manage some type of winter friendly series or tournament in January at venues in the South to maintain player fitness and fan interest.

And one should not be surprised by this

This is literally an opinion piece in a series "on the thinkers, upstarts and ideologues battling for control of the Democratic Party". The other installments have, unsurprisingly, offered varied perspectives. Also, the NYT has NEVER been a leftist paper so we should not expect anything different.

I don't need to be a professor to know that fascism has already arrived in the US... but sadly I don't have the money or the luxury to flee to another country.

Well, he has never really seemed fully committed to this job so I'm not surprised by this. I just can't wait for another break with one win/draw and one loss... and then hear Pochettino and pundits struggle to argue that things are "improving".

I still can't get over the "Hand of God", his cocaine addiction, the bans, and failure to pay millions in taxes in Italy... could have been a much different legacy

I wait with bated breath for liberals in the US to acknowledge that what is happening in Gaza is not the only ongoing genocide...

Okay, a terrible attempt at a joke. But, Fetterman continues by saying, among other things, "I'm primarily concerned about the two million Pennsylvanians that depend on SNAP to feed themselves and their families". I'm not a fan of Fetterman, but you can't simply gloss over what else he said!
October 22, 2025 at 2:42 PM
Fetterman continues by saying, "the $230 million should go to paying people's health insurance or other things. That's not a priority I would ever support". I'm not defending Fetterman, but your chosen snippets do not provide the full context. Do better.

These are acts of genocide: Article II: "In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:
(e) forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."

Imagine an peaceful, independent, and unified Ukraine, freed from Russian aggression. That would be the consequence of Russian defeat in Ukraine.

Shame on you for providing this racist "activist" with airtime.

The sting also caught a pastor, Neal Harrison Creecy. Where's the outrage with this?

Las Vegas pastor nabbed in sting that targeted alleged child sex predators
One of eight suspects arrested in a sting operation that targeted alleged child sex predators is a local pastor, according to a church that rented the suspect’s congregation space.

This should also be a bigger story...
"Among the other suspects was Las Vegas Redemption church pastor Neal Harrison Creecy, 46, the local CBS affiliate reported". But, oh right, he's not Israeli...

No, it isn't irrelevant. You're suggesting that journalists should do better by not equating "democratic socialism" with "socialism". That's fine if you believe that socialism can't exist with democracy or is bad. We need to do a better job by not simply equating socialism with the Soviet model

The protesters don't have to convince the racists, the "people in the middle", or you and your sense of what they should be doing.

Great photos! Such a great stadium... I saw my first USMNT game here back in 1989 (I think) when they played Dnepr from the old Soviet league.

Fall River F.C. (1922–1931)
New Bedford F.C. (1914-1918)
Brooklyn F.C. (1898-1924)
Bethlehem Steel F.C. (1907-1930)

Sure, these are just some examples of men's teams, but there IS a history of "FC" used in the US. Football or soccer, there is a history of both.
