my dad was an OG, got to be one of the EV1 test drivers. I think about that car every time I hear someone talk about regenerative braking.

in my context, I don't think it burned me out so much as it disillusioned me about what people are willing to do in response to crisis.

I think I've seen closer to 8k, and I agree with @kromandavid.bsky.social assessment that they're likely to be more a hodgepodge of votes. but the fact Wilson doesn't need to win them 60/40 feels like it puts her in the better position.

I didn't see anyone expect that trump would starve people to get the Dems to cave. while it was about healthcare, I think everyone was willing to take the pain. but "my opponent starving children looks good for me politically" is, uh, not a great moral position to operate out of.

it's also a bit akin to the KBJ stay that was just handed down. it sucks, but even the most successful version of a deal... still kinda sucked. there's a lot of folks on the left who will be angry their priors were confirmed, but yeah, step back and it was trump that tripped down on withholding SNAP

we have a donor who's employer matches more than 1:1. it's wild how quickly matching adds up for non-profits. there's also all kinds of ways you can give stock and sometimes even get that matched.

Yup. I've been a part of the CRCNA and through the last decade of fighting over LGBTQ+ inclusion I've warned folks that revoking women's ordination is ultimately the goal for the traditionalist crowd. Now that they've won on LGBTQ, there's starting to be grumbling from those folks about women.

yeah, but I could see them doing a special for new revenue, or trying to claw back some police money. They aren't going to use Jumpstart to balance the general fund. IDK, I think it kinda comes down to what Strauss and Juarez want to do.

was having a long conversation today at work noting also what feels like a shift from being angry about how broken things are to being hopeful and positive about the future we can build. I think you can run against the present with a positive message that people are desperate to hear.

one popped up by me recently for $300 but my gear fund is low and I'd have to sell a guitar. they're great guitars though.

I know by every normal standard all college head coaches are crazy ambitious, but I hope Jedd Fisch is looking around and realizing that a job at a top 10 school is a "win now or get fired" gig, while taking UW to the playoff next year (not impossible?) would make his tenure pretty secure.

one last thought as we walk around in the pouring rain, the inverse of this conversation is also true for a lot of folks. there's people who post about "1933 in Germany" who really don't understand how bad the Weimar Republic was.
