The manatee equivalent of stepping on legos in bare feet!
A manatee gingerly plods against a strong incoming current over the spiky staghorn corals (which are not something a manatee is used to encountering in the Intercoastal Waterway!) #manatee #manateesofcoralcity #ploddingalong #coralcitycamera #miami #portmiami #biscaynebay #coralcity

Found a few of my old friends while snorkeling the Otago Harbour tonight... a shy young big-belly seahorse (Hippocampus abdominalis) and a watchfully cautious wheke octopus (Macroctopus maorum).

I just added this to my wishlist on Steam, and hope you will too! It’s made by incredibly passionate people, and even just adding it to your wishlist will help it spread through the Steam store. On top of that… I can’t wait to open my wings and soar as toroa (albatross)!
after four years of incubation, Toroa: Skycall will be fledging this spring! 🐣

🌊 glide as an albatross!
🐧 befriend many little and big guys
🐋 give kelp to a whale
🌪 reunite with your family

⏰ ...official date coming soon... ⏰

It’s amazing how much we can miss in nature. I set this camera up to collect nature sounds on a popular hiking track… I left wondering how many people were aware of to wandering red deer they’d nearly seen. youtu.be/pt98H685wIQ?...

Birds use columns of warm and rising air to gain altitude through a spiraling flight pattern. It's one of the absolute wonders of nature and I can watch it for hours.

Just found a really cool 3D reference to seahorses. The fins are hard to see, but the skeleton is very visible, and the angular shape might surprise you. #marinelife #sealife #artreference : sketchfab.com/3d-models/se...

Does seagrass have eyes?! That's what I think when spotting this longsnout pipefish (Stigmatopora macropterygia). This little male was showing off his brood pouch, while trying to sneak away from my camera. They've become one of my new hobbies to look for while snorkeling. #sealife #marinelife

I tried a paddle-board nature stream over the weekend and was treated to some amazing #marinelife… sea lions, albatross, shags, and even a little penguin!

I love when fish seem to stop and look back at us through the camera.

There was an octopus in my swimming spot today! The water was a silty haze, but I kept diving out of curiosity. Suddenly a tire-sized shape appeared on the bottom, looking like a stingray. They really put on the act too, spreading their body into a larger disc each time I got close. 💚🐙 #marinelife

Find the flounder! I almost missed them hiding in the sand. Fortunately they were patient enough to let me put the camera down. I recorded for 5 minutes, and can't wait to see what they got up to once I swam away. 🐟🦑 #marinelife

I’m really excited for this project and can’t wait to share more about it… soon! If you are into games with a solid nature angle, please give this a like and pass it on.
Introducing, Pondlife! 🌱 This game is a love letter to our players who have been requesting a freshwater version of Splash: Ocean Sanctuary over the last 10 years! Through this game we hope to convey how everyone deserves a place where they feel safe, and a place they can call home 💚 🦦 🐟

Who else creates enchanting names to describe #marine habitats? I’d love to hear some of yours! Here are three I’ve come up with for the photos I’ve taken:
- Floating Forest
- Beaded Shallows
- Shell Desert

I got lucky leaving my camera underwater. A few stingrays came to say hi!
January 1, 2025 at 9:08 AM
My new life goals is to be as chill as a stingray riding the incoming current. I caught up with this one from my paddle-board a few days ago.

Stingrays are such curious creatures. Big black fins and raised eyes. The water was shallow enough to see them ripple against the incoming tide. A couple small sharks too!

The Yucatan Shovel-headed Treefrog (Triprion petasatus) might be my new favorite frog. What are those lips for? Aside from looking like they just released a silent fart. guatemala.inaturalist.org/taxa/24436-T...
