Love waking up on the second day of Rosh Hashanah to see that casual antisemitism is so normalized that the NYT quotes Joe Rogan dropping a well-worn antisemitic trope without any acknowledgement of it at all.
A quote from Joe Rogan in the NYT: “You don’t think that the [expletive] globalist lizard people who run the world are sitting here going: ‘Great, what do we got — three years? We’ll wait this out. We’ll wait this out. Yeah, yeah, yeah, let them say the government should be involved in censoring people’s speech.’”

You don’t actually *have* to write about the two racist white guys doing a racist thing and actively trying to get attention for it. You might think you’re making them look bad, but mainstream press—complete with glam shots—is exactly what they want. This is their playbook.

Timeline cleanse: Our neighborhood indie bookstore, @volumesbooks.bsky.social, had a “stuffy sleepover” tonight, complete with arts & crafts, board games, and hide and seek. They sent photo updates and it’s as cute as you’d think it would be. (My kid’s “stuffy” is the too-realistic-its-creepy doll.)

I still am furious the Times destroyed their sports section and replaced it with this garbage.
The unintelligible opening paragraphs from an Athletic article about the French Open women’s final: ROLAND GARROS, PARIS — Only in sports, and probably only in tennis, would a Black girl raised in Florida and a White girl raised in 5,500 miles away in Minsk grow up to collide in Paris, chasing one another’s dreams. Why do news organizations keep parroting Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” language? NPR did this the other day, too. It’s meaningless. But by saying it over and over, even in quotes, it starts to take on the veneer of truth.

What’s going on with the air quality in Chicago right now? I’ve never seen an AQI this high #ilwx
Air quality index map showing the AQI in the Chicago area as 349, which is in the range considered hazardous. The issue seems to be centered around the south suburbs/NW Indiana.
