Houses were smaller and bedrooms more often shared, even into the 80s. The few friends who had their own rooms were lucky.

Even more deadly, though not as dramatic - tuberculosis. The anti-tb org founded in 1904, dropped "Tuberculosis" for "Lung" in the name in 1973, once smoking became a good replacement.

We Canadian oldtimers who discuss these weighty matters assumed it and maple walnut are old distinctively Canadian flavours, but where maple walnut continues (though not popular), rum and raisin is extinct.

Now it sounds like it's merely extirpated.

One of the most interesting cities I've visited in so many ways, including food. So much is an interesting mix of French and Viet. eg dairy esp yogurt (distinctive taste, maybe the local forage), civet coffee, street food, cha ca la vong.

It'll be great to not get bloatware updates that slow my Windows 7 machine. (My tech guys say my freeware antivirus is enough.)

On the side I'm ramping up an all-open-source Ubuntu machine. Pox on all the bigtech houses.
