I don't know if it's supposed to be this easy but I've just played The Guardian's 'budget game' and I've managed to raise £45bn without increasing the basic rate of income tax or frightening the bond markets. Also I appear to be doing well in the polls.

This from the @pressgazette.co.uk morning newsletter raises such an important point.

For the first time in generations, public access has been restored to the area underneath Rendelsham Viaduct, known as "Fourteen Arches" to Enfield locals of a certain age.

This route is also now part of the London Loop, and improves access to the capital's largest tree-planting project!

I finished the Great North Run!

It was exhausting but exhilarating. I hit my target time and, more importantly, smashed my fundraising goal, raising £620 in total.

Thanks to everyone who supported me!

Good afternoon from the London/Hertfordshire border!

I am stepping up my training for next month's Great North Run by... literally almost running a half marathon, from the M25 (currently beneath my feet) to the River Thames at London Bridge!

I'm still pinching myself that I get to commute to work along the gorgeous new cycle path beside the New River in Enfield – as well as using it for my ongoing Great North Run training twice a week. It's simply stunning!

I've been feeding these eight orphan ducklings on the New River everyday for two weeks and so far all seem to be doing well. They better be getting my something for Father's Day.
